I am so in love with this Scripture and Faith Challenge, but this week has been a little hectic and posting every single day got to be a little hectic. So I took a day off, but I'll be catching up today!
It's kind of a shame, because yesterday's topic was "Helped You Through Something," and as soon as I saw that on the list I knew exactly what scripture I would use.
Joshua 1:9 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
This verse helped me through the hardest time in my life- my husband's deployment. I was 18, newly married, and sent my 19 year old husband off to war. I saw him for 2 weeks three months later for R&R (their 'vacation' period), and then not again for 9 months. All our contact was through a few letters, Skype/IM sessions (when his internet connection was working and he wasn't out on missions), and a some phone calls. It was an incredibly stressful and anxiety filled situation, as you might imagine. And this verse is one of the things that got me through. When it all seemed too much, I remembered this verse. It wasn't my place to be scared, it was my place to be strong and of good courage. The Lord was with me, and He would be with my husband.
Psalm 118:24
24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
I say this to myself a lot, especially when I'm at work. I will have a day where just everything seems to go wrong, or customers will get an attitude and treat me badly, and I say this verse. It reminds me to keep things in perspective. It doesn't matter if my job isn't my dream position, it doesn't matter if someone else doesn't have respect for me or is rude to me- I'm saved by Christ. I have a reason to rejoice 24/7! What earthly thing can compare to that?

That's a good way to look at it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love both of the chosen verses! Great post Brittany. Have a wonderful weekend :)
