That is freakin' HUGE, okay? 500 posts over...roughly 3.5 years. I am seriously so proud of myself for sticking with this blogging thing for this long. It may not seem like a big deal for you, but I am notorious for not sticking with things (or at least I was when I started this blog). Especially when it comes to things like journaling, which is and always has been my purpose for this blog.
When I started this blog, I had just moved to Colorado. I had attempted blogging twice already, and never stuck with it. My husband had been home from Iraq for about 3 months, and things were both great and difficult. Since that time, I've made friends, lost friends, witnessed births and divorces, driven across the country multiple times, rejoined the civilian world, graduated from college, had my dreams crushed when I didn't get into graduate school, moved back to my home state, and started to seriously talk about having babies and buying a house. Needless to say- it's been a crazy journey at times. I'm at an awesome point in my life, and I'm so blessed to have the past few years documented through this blog.
There's something else that has helped make my life so awesome lately- YOU! Every new follow and comment is truly a joyous occasion in my little blogging world. I currently have 70 readers. Not too impressive by some standards, but a huge deal to me! I remember (because it wasn't too long ago) when I was thrilled to log on and see I had made it to 10 readers! I have also started getting blog awards, even being nominated for 20SB's 2013 Bootleg Awards.
So to say thank you, I'm hosting my very first giveaway! I won't lie and say that it's something huge...because it's not. But it's a cute little something (two cute little somethings, actually) that I think tie into my personality and also can be helpful for fellow bloggers! That's right- I'm not telling you what the giveaway is. I like surprises sometimes- hopefully you do too :)
I can pretty much guarantee that this will be the easiest giveaway ever- all it takes is ONE comment. That's right- I'm not even going to require a follow, tweet, pin, or blog post. Leave ONE comment and that's ONE entry. I just want some feedback on my blog- why do you follow this blog (if you do)? What keeps you returning to DAB? If you don't follow, is there a specific reason? What topics attract you, or which topics do you skip over? Leave ONE comment answering one (or more, if you're generous) of these questions, or any similar feedback, and you'll be entered!
The closing date is exactly one week from today- February 11, 2013. On the 12th I will randomly pick a winner (names in a hat, or something to that effect) and contact that person. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for supporting me and this blog.

Happy 500th post Brittany! That's a super milestone, and clearly you've come a long way in the last couple years (in blog and in life). What most definitely keeps me coming back is you, and the way your personality comes through in your blogging. I love most of your posts, I only skip the scripture and faith ones (personal choice) on occasion, but I love and respect that you keep posting them. It's your blog, and should be about what matters to you! I'm looking forward to continuing to read, well into the next 500 posts!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I am not even sure how I found your blog, but reading your blog makes the things tht swirl around in the space between my ears make much more sense. Every so often (okay, let's be honest and say very often), we wives get a little off track in our own lives and our own brains. You help to put some of the thoughts in my brain into a better perspective. Keep writing because 500 is a great accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through the 30 day Challenge :)
ReplyDeleteAnd since I'm NOW starting this whole blogging business, nowhere near your fabulous 500 posts (Congratulations!!) Its very encouraging to have comments on anything you post you were one of the first people who actually commented on my posts and Ive been following ever since.
Love your daily posts and comments challenge wise and in between you're really fun to interact with :)
I'm sad I STILL haven't caught up on my blogs yet and didn't see this sooner.
ReplyDeleteWin some, lose some. I'll still tell you my secrets though!
I keep coming back because we're both North Carolinians! And cause we're 20-somethings. And cause we think a lot the same. I enjoy hearing your opinions (and even rants) on things and seeing things from a different perspective than my own (even if they are often very similar).
Some of my favorite posts are the Sunday posts because those are very challenging to put out in public (in my opinion).
